London’s largest outdoor exhibition, the
Regent’s Park Frieze Sculpture 2017, kicked off yesterday and will run throughout the summer months, ending 8 October 2017. The exhibition brings together 23 new and significant works by 20th-century masters and leading contemporary artists from around the world.
Highlights include
Thomas J Price’s (Hales) startling triple portraits of men of African origin;
Reza Aramesh’s (Leila Heller Gallery) metamorphosis of mythical animal and subjected figure; and a six-metre-high ubiquitous toy-human figure by KAWS (pictured below).
We had a wander through Regent’s Park and were impressed by the spectacular works dotted around the area, which certainly made a striking effect. Here are some of our favourites:
John Chamberlain | Fiddler's Fortune 2010 | Coloured aluminium |
Urs Fischer | Invisible Mother 2015 | Cast brass and enamel |
Magadalena Abakanowicz | Standing Figure with Wheel 1990 | Bronze and iron |
Eduardo Paolozzi | Vulcan 1999 | Unique bronze |
Bernar Venet | 17 Acute Unequal Angles (2016) | Corten steel |
KAWS | Final Days 2013 | Afromosia wood |
At
Grays, we discovered a few noteworthy sculptures from our dealers...
