Michel Roux Jr, the two starred Michelin chef de cuisine at Mayfair's Le Gavroche restaurant is hosting a very special banquet, taking guests back two centuries to dine in the style of the London aristocracy in the 19th Century.

Set in a private dining room at the Langham Hotel, everything from the food to the dining room tables, crockery, and silverware with be authentic. The £350-a-head Victorian inspired dinner will include a starter of poached salmon and hollandaise sauce, then corn-fed chicken casserole with a praline ice-cream bombe to finish.  British cheeses will of course follow in a traditional fashion.  All proceeds will go towards the Evening Standard's Dispossessed Fund.  You can read the original article from the Evening Standard online here.
